The Way We Speak took home three Special Jury Prize awards after screening at the 24th annual Anchorage International Film Festival (AIFF) in December:
- Outstanding Writer of a Narrative Feature: Ian Ebright
- Outstanding Actor in a Narrative Feature: Patrick Fabian
- Outstanding Actress in a Narrative Feature: Diana Coconubo
Actors Patrick Fabian, Diana Coconubo, Kailey Rhodes, and Ayanna Berkshire were on hand with Ian to screen the film at the famous Bear Tooth Theatrepub in Alaska’s largest city. MovieMaker Magazine has recognized AIFF as one of “20 Great Film Festivals for First-Time Moviemakers” and one of the “25 Coolest Film Festivals in the World.”
AIFF is The Way We Speak’s final festival of 2024. Since its world premiere at the Florida Film Festival last April, Ian’s feature debut screened at 12 festivals (nine of them MovieMaker Magazine top picks), won nine awards, and received eight nominations.
