Five years after Ian’s debut had its world premiere at the Newport Beach Film Festival, FROM THE SKY won Best Short Film Under 30 Minutes at the 2019 Damah International Film Festival in Tokyo. The award was one of only three prizes given out during the festival and was presented to Ian by a member of Japan’s parliament. Award-winning producers Mark Joseph (The Passion of The Christ, The Chronicles of Narnia, Ray) and Kanjiro Sakura (Inception) were on hand for the ceremony—which included a second screening of Ian’s film.

As a jury selection, FROM THE SKY was selected as the grand prize winner by a jury of Oscar- and award-winning producers including Gerald R. Molen (Schindler’s List, Jurassic Park), Gray Frederickson (The Godfather: Part II, Apocalypse Now), Howard Kazanjian (Raiders of the Lost Ark, Return of the Jedi), and Ralph Winter (The X-Men series).
