WHITE ACTION NEWS—a satire of Fox News and white culture—finished its first season last Tuesday with episode eight, as Trent Maida’s new boss (played by Lowell Deo, NBC’s GRIMM and SyFy’s Z NATION) confronts the reporter with an allegation.
The no-budget web series came to life during the unexpected downtime associated with the COVID-19 pandemic which delayed filming and post production on PINWHEEL HORIZON—Ian’s latest narrative film as writer/director.
To work within the limitations placed on productions and personal finances, Ian recruited his family to serve as actors and videographers, asked close friends to film themselves remotely, and wrote and directed the season finale to be in compliance with Washington state’s newly released filming guidelines. It’s the first time Ian has been in front of the camera (as reporter Trent Maida); he also wrote, directed, edited, and produced the series for his production company Broken Telegraph.
Lowell and Ian are currently shaping the story for season two. Those interested can watch the first eight episodes of WHITE ACTION NEWS on YouTube and rate the season at IMDb.
