THE WAY WE SPEAK Finds Praise and Press in Premiere Month

The Way We Speak ended its first month on the festival circuit with a win and two nominations after its world premiere at the Florida Film Festival (FFF) and official selections at the Julien Dubuque International Film Festival (JDIFF) and RiverRun International Film Festival. Ian’s debut feature won the Honorable Mention: Feature or Documentary award at JDIFF 2024 (one of 12 awards handed out to more than 150 officially selected films), and FFF acknowledged the film with Best Narrative Feature nominations in their Audience Award and Grand Jury Prize categories.

The Way We Speak currently sits at 86% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes. ReviewRon called the film “a triumph of filmmaking,” while Cinemacy described The Way We Speak as “a rich character study…with a script that Aaron Sorkin would likely tip his hat to.” The Independent Critic singled out the cast, saying “Patrick Fabian soars” in a “tremendous performance.”

During the month of April, Ian was interviewed by Film Obsessive; featured in Dubuque’s Telegraph Herald and interviewed on their local radio; and participated in a filmmaker panel at FFF.
