FROM THE SKY is the award-winning debut from Ian Ebright, with producer Jess Grant. In the narrative short film, a peaceful father and his troubled son struggle to live a nomadic life in their region of the Middle East. As drones patrol overhead, the men are forced to make difficult decisions when their camp is visited by two militants. Ian conducted extensive research, hosted an ongoing dialogue with Middle Eastern advisers throughout the screenwriting process, and cast fluent Arabic-speaking actors. The film represents a true collaboration between the writer/director, cast, crew, advisers including Oscar-nominated producer John Sinno (Iraq in Fragments), and interpreters including Syrian actor Jay Abdo (opposite Tom Hanks in A Hologram for the King).

FROM THE SKY stars Maz Siam (Argo, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., The Mindy Project ), Mohamad Tamimi, Steven Soro, and Georges Chalhoub. The Short Film Awards 2014 recognized Tamimi with the Best Supporting Actor award and Siam with a Best Actor nomination for their performances in the film. FROM THE SKY was also the recipient of the International Humanitarian Award Grand Prize out of 5,000 submissions and 250 screened films at the 18th annual Oscar-qualifying Rhode Island International Film Festival (2014).
