Pinwheel Horizon—Ian’s latest publicly released story as writer-director and third narrative short film—is garnering favorable attention from independent outlets. Film Threat Editor-in-Chief Alan Ng argues the film succeeds by prioritizing story over spectacle. “The filmmaker builds his world by establishing lore and focusing on the motivations and goals of his characters,” Ng says. “He brilliantly gives his three warriors very distinct personalities, like the wise and quiet Kuur.”
Richard Propes of The Independent Critic also gives high marks to Pinwheel Horizon, calling the story a “meaningful adventure.” Propes’ review singles out the work of Actor Maz Siam (Mr. Mayor, The Affair), Director of Photography Haley Watson (2022 Oscar-winner The Queen of Basketball), Composer Billow Observatory (felte, Azure Vista Records), and Ian’s efforts, adding the writer-director “works with wisdom and insight.”
