Principal photography on The Way We Speak—Ian’s first feature-length film as writer-director—concluded February 4 in Portland, Oregon after an 18-day shoot. The dramatic cautionary tale stars Patrick Fabian (Better Call Saul), Diana Coconubo, Kailey Rhodes, Ayanna Berkshire, and Lowell Deo; the team includes Producer Molly Vendettuoli, Director of Photography A.J. Marson, Production Designer Jeff Stillwell, and Costume Designer Erin Toft.
Since the beginning of principal photography, Patrick Fabian was nominated along with Better Call Saul‘s other leads for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series at the Screen Actors Guild Awards; Better Call Saul won three times at the Critics’ Choice Awards (including the night’s trophy for Best Drama Series); and Ayanna Berkshire’s film with Daisy Ridley Sometimes I Think About Dying premiered at the Sundance Film Festival.
